INDIAN COMMUNITY WELFARE FUND (ICWF)

1. Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF) was established vide Order dated 12 Oct 2009 in 17 ECR countries and Maldives which has been extended up to 157 countries including Sri Lanka on 24 Mar 2011. The Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF) is aimed to assist distressed Overseas Indian Nationals in the most deserving cases under the following circumstances:-

(a) Boarding and lodging for deserving distressed Overseas Indian nationals abroad on a means tested basis in budget category for upto 30 days.

(b) Emergency medical care.

(c) Initial legal Assistance in deserving cases.

(d) Air passage to stranded Overseas Indians.

(e) Incidentals & airlifting of mortal remains to India or local cremation/burial of deceased overseas Indians.

(f) Penalties for illegal stay of Overseas Indians in host country where worker is not at fault.

(g) Small fines/penalties for release of overseas Indians in jail/detention center.

(h) Welfare activities for Indian students.

(j) Legal/financial assistance to Indian women deserted by their overseas Indian/foreigner husbands
