Celebration of 79^th Independence Day of India

Assistant High Commission of India, Kandy celebrated 79th Independence Day of India in Kandy on Friday, 15th August, 2025 with great enthusiasm.

Assistant High Commissioner H.E. Ms. Saranya V. S. hoisted the national flag of India at office premises at 08:15 AM and read out excerpts of the address of Hon’ble President of India to the nation on the eve of 79th Independence Day. The event was attended by religious leaders & members of the Indian community.

Performances of Lehja kathak dance troupe added flavors to the celebration. This Independence Day, Indian community in Kandy participated enthusiastically in ‘#HarGharTiranga , #HarGharSwachhata’ campaign in the spirit of bringing freedom closer to daily life.
