11th International Day of Yoga (IDY), 2025 by AHCI Kandy

The Assistant High Commission of India (AHCI), Kandy marked the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025 with great enthusiasm and participation under the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”

2. In the lead-up to the main celebration, AHCI Kandy organized a series of eight curtain raiser yoga events at various government institutions, schools, colleges, and public spaces across the region. These events were conducted in collaboration with local government bodies and witnessed the participation of over 1,000 individuals, reflecting the growing awareness and enthusiasm for yoga in Sri Lanka.

3. A highlight among the curtain raiser events was the 8th event held at the iconic Lake Round in Kurunegala, organized in association with the North Western Provincial Council. The event was graced by Hon’ble Governor of North Western Province, H. E. Tisza Kumarasiri Warnasuriya, who served as the Chief Guest. Senior officials, including secretaries and officers of the Provincial Council, also participated in the yoga session.

4. The concluding main event of the International Day of Yoga 2025 celebrations was held at Sahas Uyana, Kandy. Hon’ble Governor of Central Province, Prof. Sarath Abeykoon graced the occasion as chief guest. Esteemed dignitaries, TV/Film celebrities, senior officers, friends of India, media fraternity and more than 400 enthusiasts performed yoga asanas.

5. The celebration featured a one-hour yoga session, conducted by experienced instructors, followed by a 10-minute meditation session facilitated by the Brahma Kumaris. The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony to honor the esteemed dignitaries and yoga gurus who contributed to the promotion of yoga and holistic well-being.
